Barbecue Turkeys

La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-20 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve to guarantee your order before Nov. 16 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 between 4 to 6 p.m.

LG Garden Club

The La Grange Garden Club will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl St. The meeting will feature a program by David E. Will, “What You Need to Know Now for a Beautiful Landscape.” All members are encouraged to attend and visitors are always welcome for an update on coming events and activities. Republican Women Meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. Speaker will be Stephanie Holderfield with County Citizens Defending Freedom. This organization helps citizens fight for their freedoms on county levels. Stephanie has an amazing resume, including, most recently, as the campaign manager for Dr. Dana Myers for the Republican Party of Texas Vice-Chair, Dr. Jon Spiers for General Land Office. Prior to that she was a Presidential Political Appointee with the Trump Administration. During her time with the Trump Administration, she served as (Acting) Chief of Staff for Customs and Border Protection at the Department of Homeland Security, Chief of Staff for USDA Rural Development’s Rural Business-Cooperative Service, and as a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Auxiliary Bake Sale

St. Mark’s Auxiliary bake sale will be held Friday, Nov. 18 at the registration desk at St. Mark’s Medical Center beginning at 8 a.m. until sold out.

Annual Veterans Party

The annual Veterans Party sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America Schulenburg Chapter 870 will be held Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Ammannsville Hall with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and drawing at 7 p.m. Enjoy beef stew and chicken noodle soup. A free will donation accepted.

Food Truck in Waldeck

Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. The food truck is in Waldeck on the third Saturday of every month, 10 until 11 a.m. The one for December is the 17.

Thanksgiving Worship Service

The annual Community Thanksgiving Worship Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. at the Historic Casino Hall. The service is put on by the La Grange Ministerial Alliance. A collection will be taken to support the Good Shepherd Fund which goes to help people who are not from the area who may need a place to stay or a bus ticket to Houston or Austin. The alliance will also be collecting canned goods for AMEN Food Pantry. The speaker this year will be Father Brian Phillips from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Other local pastors and ministers will be participating in the worship. Everyone is invited.

Surviving The Holidays

Immanuel Lutheran Church of Giddings is sponsoring a special event called “Surviving the Holidays” for anyone grieving the death of a loved one, especially during the holiday season. The event will be held Sunday, Nov. 20 from 3-5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Call (512) 461-5442 for more information.

Apple Strudel Sale

The Hostyn and Plum Youth Group (C.R.E.W.) Apple Strudel Sale will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1 to 7 p.m. at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, Hostyn, Parish Hall. Baked or frozen strudels are $14 each. Reserve your strudel by calling the Parish Office at (979) 247-4441, ext 2.

Plum Hermann Sons Life

Plum Hermann Sons Life will hold their Christmas party for members and family Saturday, Dec. 3 beginning at 4 p.m. at Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Meal, desserts and drinks will be furnished by the Lodge.
