Bald Eagle Spotted Near Holman
A reader in the Holman area spotted a bald eagle on Saturday, Nov. 19. The sighting took place around mid-morning. “The eagle flew up out of a field and down the middle of the road in front of my truck before landing on the fence,” the man said. He was able to capture this photograph of the majestic bird. Bald eagles, which were once near extinction, have made a dramatic comeback in recent years. According to the Houston Audubon Society, bald eagles become more common in Texas during the winter time due to migration patterns, although about 156 breeding pairs live permanently in the state. In Fayette County, they are more commonly seen around the Colorado River.
