Another 18-Wheeler Mishap Clogs Bluff on Tuesday
An 18-wheeler blocked traffic on US 77 at the Bluff south of La Grange Tuesday morning after its load shifted, nearly causing the rig to tip over. The mishap occurred around 8:30 a.m. Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau reported that the 18-wheeler’s box trailer was loaded with several pallets of heavy mud used for oil drilling. He said the pallets were not appropriately strapped down inside the trailer. The 18-wheeler was heading south up the Bluff. The load shifted to the passenger side as the rig traversed the first curve after Camp Lone Star Rd. A 911 caller reported that the trailer’s wheels came off the ground at one point. The driver managed to stop before it rolled over.
The stopped 18-wheeler blocked the southbound lane. Deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrived to control traffic. Ray’s Crane Service of La Grange brought equipment to the scene to rearrange the pallets inside the trailer. The pallets were re-secured and the driver resumed his journey.
