Annual Pitman Cemetery Memorial Day Set for First Sunday in May
Coming up on the first Sunday in May will be the Pitman Cemetery Memorial Day. It is the day that the families of those laid to rest in Pitman come to honor their ancestors. There are many founding families who are buried in Pitman and a whole lot of history. Anyone from slaves, to those with military honors, to those who worked the fields and crops of the Muldoon area.
Make plans now to come, sing a few songs, pay respects to those who have passed and stroll through the Muldoon area history. The graves of those who laid the foundations of what we have now in the Muldoon area.
Blessing of Rain
Muldoon was blessed with a generous rain. The green grass really is looking good after the last round of rain. Anywhere from an inch to over two and a half inches were reported around the area. As a round of strong thunderstorms came through the area, we received heavy rains at times with lots of wind. The amounts varied over the area depending where under the cloud you were how much fell. Overall, even if we still are in a drought, it was a wonderful welcomed rain event.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is very active in the area. They have not one, but two ladies Bible studies going. The original ladies’ group, Sweet Tea & Scripture, will be meeting April 28. They will be announcing where later, but this is a great chance to mix and mingle with some strong Christian ladies and share in the learning of what the Bible is saying. So, pencil in the date and details will be forthcoming.
The Tuesday morning Ladies’ Bible Study at SG2C is underway and area ladies are still invited to come out and learn about the Bible. Topic will be “The Women of the Bible Speak” by Shannon Bream led by Chris Leviton. The ladies are meeting at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. If you would like to speak to someone you may call Chris at (979) 702-0715 more information.
If anyone is interested in checking out the SG2C just drop by any Sunday morning and experience God at work. The Sunday mornings at SG2C start off at 9:30 a.m with coffee, doughnuts and a whole lot of fellowship. Then at 10 a.m the morning worship service begins. Out and About
Dana and Darrell Kulak traveled to the Fort Worth area to do some grandparent duty and watch grandsons Elton and Calvin Kulak for a couple days. This gave their parents, Elton and Miko Kulak a chance to go out and about.
Kathy Chlumsky went to Austin for her granddaughter’s, Olivia Williams, dance gala. She had lots of fun at the gala watching Olivia perform with her dance team. It was a great performance.
Afterwards Kathy enjoyed a late lunch with Olivia and her mom, Summer. While there, Kathy also got to visit with grandson, Marcus, for a bit while avoiding some of the more severe weather.
Julia Speed is in Muldoon fixing up her grandfather’s home. She has been hard at work improving lots of little things and maybe a few big ones too and preserving the history of the home built by her grandfather Andy Speed, who built many homes and buildings in the area.
Hogs in Area
Once again, the hogs have been making the rounds in the area. There have been a number hit on the roads making it where everyone is having to pay attention as to not only miss the moving sounder of hogs, but also to miss the buzzards that come after to feast on the remains that are in the roadways or are on the edge. Please be aware and keep your eyes open for movement on and beside the highway.
