Animal Shelter Update

As of Oct. 14, a total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,170: 527 dogs and 643 cats in need. The shelter currently has 120 animals in care: 68 dogs, and 52 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner. Spay and neuter is the only way to manage the unwanted dog and cat population in Fayette County. The shelter offers a discount voucher program for the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/neuter of family pets. Call (979) 966-0021 for more information.
