Animal Shelter Update

As of Aug. 26, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1179: 562 dogs and 617 cats in need. This is a significant increase over the same time frame in 2022 with 246 additional dogs and cats in need.

As of Aug. 6, the shelter has 124 animals in care: 65 dogs/59 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner. The shelter offer a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/neuter of family pets. Call (979) 966-0021.
