The Faison Preservation Society is excited to announce the discovery of a leatherbound 1867 pocket journal owned by N.W. Faison. The document contains notes about Faison’s business dealings, including personal loans and shopping lists. In the back of the book is a notation: If you find this, please return to N.W. Faison, La Grange, Texas.

“I was giving a tour of the house with a group from Houston,” Vice President Marie Watts explained, “and one of the women said she had Googled N.W. Faison and found the ledger for sale on eBay. We promptly purchased it.”

Rox Ann Johnson, curator at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives in La Grange, was thrilled. The find sheds light on activity in the county during that era.

The document will be housed at the archives and is available for public viewing.
