Wildlife Management Co-op Meeting

The next regular meeting of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top. Prior to the meeting a social hour and catered dinner will be held to honor the two students from Round Top-Carmine High School who attended Girls State Convention 2023 that is supported by the Ladies Auxiliary. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the dinner. All post members are requested to be in attendance for this meeting.

The North Central Fayette County Wildlife Management Co-op is having their annual fall meeting on Sept. 9 at Camp Kubena (formerly Cooper Farms). Social begins at 4 p.m. and the meeting starts at 5 p.m. with a meal to follow. There will be multiple speakers giving informative programs, door prizes, live auction and a bucket raffle. St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Boys and Girls Club of Champion Valley.

Fayette County Republican Party The Fayette County Republican Party will hold their quarterly meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Agrilife Extension Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange. Randan Steinhauser, candidate for 2024 National Committeewoman, Tim Greeson, 2024 primary candidate for District 85 Representative and Laura Bartlett (sister of Dr. Richard Bartlett) and Greta Crawford, representing the patient protection ministry, Pastors of Power, have all been invited to tell how to prepare for a hospital stay or a medical emergency while you are healthy. You can get “Patient Passport” materials ready before you need a hospital. A notary and forms will be available after the meeting so that everyone attending will have an opportunity to leave with their own “Patient Passport” documents. Mt. Calvary BBQ

The Men’s Club of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, La Grange, will hold their annual barbecue chicken and sausage dinner on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will be available by drive through only at the church’s parking lot at 800 N. Franklin. Tickets are $15 per plate. The meal includes half a barbecued chicken, sausage, homemade noodles, pinto beans, bread and sauce. Tickets are available at the church office, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool, Lukas Bakery, La Grange Chevron, or with any Men’s Club member. Tickets will also be available at the drive through line.

150th Church Anniversary

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton will commemorate its 150th Anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 10. Worship begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by a light brunch. Retired Teachers to Meet

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’Association will meet on Monday, Sept. 11, at the Fellowship Hall of the New Life Methodist Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange. The social activity at 1:30 p.m. will be a “Welcome Back” time complete with Blue Bell ice cream. A business meeting will follow at 2 p.m. with extensive information to be given on the upcoming Nov. 7 election (Proposition #9), and its’ impact on retired teachers. FCCT Open Auditions

Fayette County Community Theatre will hold open auditions for the newest production, “Harvey,” on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5:45 p.m. The auditions will be held at 275 Ellinger Rd. in La Grange.

Sages and Saints Fellowship

New Life Methodist Church is having a welcome back fellowship Thursday, Sept. 14 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 1215 N. Von Minden St. Musical guest Zack Novak will provide entertainment. Terriyaki chicken on pineapple skewers will be served. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. Join in the fellowship hall.
