The American Legion Auxiliary, H.J. Ehlers Unit 102 in La Grange, is a community of Volunteers serving the Veterans and Military and their families. Besides advocating for Veterans, they promote Patriotism and Americanism, demonstrate compassion and respect for those who serve our Country and Protect our Freedoms, and sponsor youth programs, most notably the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program and Scholarships in local school systems. The Unit and Post held their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 8, at the VFW Home in La Grange. The Auxiliary members were honored to have their two Scholarship recipients, Jill Newton and Reece Nygren, and their families in attendance. Each recipient was presented a $500 scholarship to further their education to their institution of choice. This took place at 6 p.m. and was followed with a catered meal and then the Auxiliary and Post held their meetings.
