18-Wheeler Collides With Trailer

An 18-wheeler wreck on US 77 blocked traffic north of La Grange for more than an hour Friday afternoon. The wreck happened around 2 p.m. near Rabbs Prairie Rd. Sgt. Chuck Lindorfer with the Texas Highway Patrol said a van pulling a lowboy trailer was heading north on US 77 had slowed for traffic as another vehicle turned onto Rabbs Prairie Rd. A red Peterbilt truck pulling a tanker trailer was also heading north. Lindorfer said the driver of the Peterbilt failed to control its speed and collided with the back of the lowboy trailer. There were no injuries. The crash blocked traffic on the highway for more than an hour as emergency workers cleared the wreckage and cleaned diesel that had leaked from the big rig’s saddle tanks.
