102 Apply for Schulenburg AD Position
That Group has been Narrowed Down to Six Coaching Finalists
The Schulenburg I.S.D. board of trustees met last Friday and selected six finalists for the position of athletic director and head football coach.
Schulenburg Superintendent Duane Limbaugh declined to name the finalists. He said 102 candidates applied for the job.
“It was exciting to have that many apply,” Limbaugh said. “Schulenburg is known for football. I think the school board picked six candidates who are highly qualified.”
The school board will interview the six finalists this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He said the school board plans to name a sole finalist and offer a contract at a meeting on Dec. 12.
Schulenburg I.S.D. posted the opening for the AD/head football coach job at the end of October.
Limbaugh announced last week that he would be leaving the district next month to take the superintendent position at White Deer I.S.D. in the Panhandle. His last day in Schulenburg will be Jan. 2. He said the school board would discuss and possibly hire a search firm to help recruit a new superintendent in Schulenburg at the Dec. 12 meeting. Limbaugh said the school board will likely select an interim superintendent at that meeting.
