We, as Americans, have learned a whole new language through this Coronavirus Pandemic. Some words we have heard before but haven’t been used that much in our society. New words or phrases have appeared that are weird but have become a norm in conversations.

Muldoon Celebrates Without Fourth of July Parade

Muldoon was a whole lot quieter this past Fourth of July with the cancellation of the celebration in the Park. Even with the cancellation of formal celebrations, private ones could be heard all through the community. It was wonderful to see so many still celebrating the birth of our nation. There were lots of fireworks going off starting around dusk and going into the evening. It was great to see some form of normal going on in this time of strangeness.

Former Somerville Teacher Pleads Guilty To Improper Relationship with A Student

• Christopher Coronado, a former Somerville High School teacher and softball coach charged in 2018 with an improper relationship with a student, pleaded guilty to two counts and received seven years deferred adjudicated probation. He was also fined $2,000, plus court costs and a Crime Stoppers fee and was ordered to perform 120 hours of community service restitution, while agreeing to urinalysis, drug-alcohol evaluation and any treatment deemed necessary, according to the Burleson County Attorney’s Office.

Carmine Chamber Casino Night Set Aug. 8

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is planning to have their Casino Night on Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. This year will be a German theme: Prost Casino Night. Individual tickets will be $30, which includes the meal, drinks and entertainment. We will also have tables for eight available. Please contact any chamber director for more information. We plan on having a great turnout again this year and hope you can join us.

Bockhorn-Rodenbeck Reunion Postponed Until July 18, 2021

With continued concerns over maintaining proper social distancing and observing current regulations in force to protect the health and safety of family members, the 83rd meeting of the Bockhorn-Rodenbeck Family Reunion scheduled for Sunday, July 19 has been postponed until 2021. The new date is Sunday, July 18, 2021, the third Sunday of the month as has been the tradition since the 1940s.

Respect Life, Wear a Mask To the Editor: Unfortunately there are still way too many businesses and way too many customers in Fayette County, especially in small towns, who are failing to obey the mandatory order to wear masks in public. A simple sign at the business door posted by business owners that says “No Mask, No Entry” would help save lives.
