Houston-Dallas Bullet Train Company Says It’s On Fast Track

Texas’ first- and third-largest cities could be in daily commuting distance from each other via the highspeed Texas Central Railroad. Proponents of the proposed bullet train hailed two historic milestones last week: The Federal Railroad Administration released its rules of the road for the project and approved the environmental review and route for the track between Houston and Dallas.

Election Prayer

and King of all nations we beg you to look kindly upon our country and help us to wisely choose our new leaders. Inform our consciences and enlighten our judgment, that we my elect those who will mercifully uphold justice and strive to protect the least among us. Help us to discern which candidates will uphold both the letter and the spirit of the law. May our nation once again respect religious freedom, authentic marriage, the importance of family, and the value of every human life from conception to natural death. Heal the divisions, which wound our unity and help us to overlook political tensions and keep us from becoming a united force for good. May our great land, built on both personal responsibility and charity toward the less fortunate, always balance prosperity with care for the elderly, the poor, the sick, and the abandoned. May we elect honesty and trustworthy candidates who will always uphold the common good and protect our God-given rights. In concert with the great founders of our nation, may we confidently proclaim, “In God we trust.”

Make America Beautiful Again

I’m driving down the highway, taking in the beautiful blue skies and the glorious morning sunshine, enjoying the air conditioning in my car, and listening to one of my favorite songs and this gigantic billboard ruins my ambiance.

Tornadoes in Hurricanes

While hurricane season has seemed to be on pause for the past few days I was asked by a reader, Bradley, why do tornadoes form in hurricanes? In the research of this topic it opened up a whole can of worms that was too much for a few small lines and needed a full article about it.

St. Michael’s Will Resume In Person Worship Service

For all future worship services (until notified otherwise), St. Michael’s will be changing the format of their worship services as they continue to adapt to COVID-19. The new worship format will allow those who are comfortable returning to worship service in the sanctuary to do so while still making accommodations for those who would prefer to participate from their vehicles in the parking lot.

COVID Thoughts

To the Editor: I’m curious why the Record has yet to cover the CDC coming out and saying only 6% of these so-called COVID deaths actually have COVID-19 as the only cause of death. The other whopping 96% had, on average, 2.6 other serious illnesses.

Beautiful they are not, but well received they were. Or at least no one was brave or rude enough to say anything negative about our handiwork.
