Demands of Age

Aging has taken on a whole new meaning for me. Or maybe it’s the same meaning, just written in bolder font and posted closer to my face so I can actually read it.

To the Editor: The approaching Thanksgiving holiday provides a great opportunity to be thankful to all who have supplied school classrooms with the Ten Commandment posters. The Ten Commandments were once a cornerstone of American education and the American legal system.

Health Care Is a Basic Human Right

To the Editor: I believe that health care is a basic human right. This principle is recognized internationally in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (United Nations, 1948), which declares that everyone has the right to “a standard of living adequate for health and well-being, including medical care.” Cindy Rodibaugh’s letter of November 14, 2025, argued that extending tax offsets for the Affordable Care Act (ACA, often called “ObamaCare”) is fiscally irresponsible.

The Language of God

“Poetry is language used with personal intensity. It is not, as so many suppose, decorative speech. Poets tell us what our eyes, blurred with too much gawking, and our ears, dulled with too much chatter, miss around and within us. Poets use words to drag us into the depth of reality itself.” - Eugene Peterson, Answering God The Bible is inspired. We get this from passages like 2 Timothy 3:16.
