To the Editor: Action is needed to protect the future of Fayette County’s numerous households that depend on groundwater wells, and for the future of our Colorado River, which also depends on groundwater to maintain ecologically healthy flows, especially during drought. The health and availability of our aquifers and the river both depend on how much pumping we allow in our aquifers.

To the Editor: I wish I could evoke Robert Mitchum’s rich baritone voiceover to accompany the reading of my title as I paraphrase the ‘beef — it’s what’s for dinner’ lead in. A recent meeting of the Fayette County Groundwater Conservation District (FCGCD) was my initial foray into learning more about this topic.

Besides the COVID and Americans at each other’s throats, there’s also been beaucoup talk about race, race relations etc. etc.

It’s summer so it must be camp time. As a kid 65+ years ago, summer camp was the highlight of the three month break from school each year.

I would like to tell a part of my story about being free in America as I see it and lived it during my life and how our nation has had to fight for our freedom. I believe in America first, the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and the freedoms we have in this country.
