To the editor: We, my wife and I, we are old-timers here in Fayette County. Every once in a while, an opinion comes along that hits a nerve so we finally go to the computer to type out what we decided was so important that we’d share our humble opinion(s).

To the editor: Most of us have gotten over the 2020 sham/fiasco Presidential Election, but the shame of the results remains. For the last four-plus years we have heard the media and the looney liberals accuse President Trump of trying to start a coup because he (and many conservatives) questioned the validity of the 2020 Election results…being called a traitor and conspiracy theorist because we doubted the integrity of a shady process and an unbelievable outcome.

Richard J. Edwards of La Grange was awarded the China War Memorial Medal by James H. Shen, the Republic of China’s ambassador to the United States, at the annual convention of the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force Association in New Orleans. Known as the lost decoration of World War II, the medal commemorated service in China by American military personnel. Authorized as Circular No. 166, U.S. Forces, China Theater, dated 22 September 1945, it was prepared for distribution by the Chinese government at the end of the war. However, the hasty American demobilization, plus the general confusion then existing in China, apparently caused the documentation to be misdirected, lost or overlooked. The medal was generally considered a myth for a number of years.

A priest, a rabbi, and a pastor walk into a …. sorry folks, not a bar. Every other month, area clergy gather at one of our local congregations to catch up and explore meaningful ways to serve our community together. The La Grange Area Minister’s Association (LAMA) was formed years ago to foster a spirit of support among congregations and clergy in our community. Over the years, LAMA has supported travelers on their way, brought the community together for worship, and organized immediate response in the wake of natural disasters.

The nine signers of the “Plan of San Diego,” a blueprint for a borderland bloodbath, were charged on Jan. 24, 1915 with conspiracy against the United States government.

I just got back from shutting off the heat lamp in the pump house. Cold weather in the high 20s gets my attention, but thanks to the kindness of neighbors, I am somewhat prepared.

How will you better yourself and your ranch this year? Toward the end of last year, I was asked what I was thinking when I look at pasture land. I had never really thought about that, because so many things are going through my brain at once. So, I started making a list. It contains over 40 broad items and I add to it as I think of new things.

I am on the hunt for a few pieces of furniture, and the search has been eyeopening, feet-weary, hilarious, and mildly exasperating. At the top of my wish list is a small, compact recliner— one that does not resemble something my father sat in forty-five years ago.
