To the Editor: Have you been persuaded to vote for a candidate who has loaded your mailbox with fliers deriding his/her opposition? Have you asked yourself who composes the messages on those fliers and where does the money come from to pay for the postage to get those mailers addressed and sent to you? The return address on the mailer is the source of the message. Most of the mailers are sent by PACs, political action committees.

To the editor: A couple weeks ago, I found Annette Citzler’s account of her travels and comparisons to our country’s current state of affairs haunting. Her words were unfortunately accurate with the authenticity of a person well-traveled.

To the editor: Let me see if I got this right: 1. The Fayette Power Plant (“FPP”) is the 10th dirtiest power plant in the nation as reported by the FCR some months back which is incredible and not in a good way.

To the Editor: Last Monday the La Grange School Board voted unanimously to tax La Grange citizens for $90 million dollars. They say the money will be used to refurbish old school buildings so they can have a better campus flow and, most significantly, a new indoor band facility.

To the Editor: I am writing to express my strong support for mitigating the current and future pollution generated by the Fayette Power Project (FPP), which is co-owned by Austin Energy and the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). With the City of Austin actively negotiating an exit from the project by January 2029, we are currently within a critical regulatory window to demand accountability and updated environmental assessments before ownership potentially consolidates.

To the editor: On January 6, 2021, At the urging of President Trump, a violent and angry mob descended on the capitol attempting to stop the confirmation of Joe Biden as the lawfully elected president. The people’s house was desecrated, policemen were seriously injured and some died.

What’s the first thing you fell in love with? It probably wasn’t a person . . . Small children fall in love with a doll or favorite toy, a cuddle blanket, an imagined friend who can’t ever be left behind, a certain pair of sneakers, or even with Goldfish crackers. Sometimes it’s a healthier food such as blueberries or green beans, but those would be harder to take along to church on Sunday mornings, right? So bring on the Goldfish cravings . . .

Early voting in the March 3 primary begins Monday, Feb. 17 and concludes on Friday, Feb. 27. A full slate of contested races will be on the ballots in both Republican and Democratic primaries. The deadline to request a mail ballot is Feb. 20, according to votetexas.gov.
