Democrat Deception

To the editor: Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, with glee, recently said the “F” bomb at a public speaking event, and then laughed about it. Obviously, she has no respect for others, especially college students and children, and no respect for the office she holds and should feel honored to have.

We Must Support Israel

To the editor: In the midst of campaign jargon being thrown at us from all sides, there is another issue grabbing the daily headlines... Antisemitism.

Unwinding the Spin

To the editor: The author of last week’s editorial Spinning Information accused me of “lies or a spin on information.” I feel compelled to respond to such an attack upon my integrity. The author says, “Migrants are neither legal or illegal when they cross the border.” According to Guzman Law Firm PLLC, a top rated criminal defense attorney in Laredo, TX, “A person is considered to have unlawfully or improperly entered the U.S.

Learning Texan Matters More than They Know

To the editor: “Why,” asked The Austin American daily last Sunday, “does the Austin metroplex produce twice as many Fentanyl deaths as other urban centers in Texas?” One divisive but worth considering reason might be the open wounds bleeding away the soul of a city, and a country — wounds like those killing California, (where from they left). The obvious equate lost on the paper’s editors.

Home

Where is my ‘home’? I’ve explored this question throughout my life, and my answer has never changed: Wilburton, Oklahoma, county seat of Latimer County in the southeastern hills of the state. The city, as it boasts, has just under 3,000 people, and looks like villages all around the country: empty store fronts, slow traffic, several service stations, a grocery store, nursing home, hospital, churches, fast food and café eating establishments, a library, and the lingering feel of poverty.

Of Luffa & Vine Okra

I’m always looking for strange and interesting varieties of vegetables that will grow in our climate. I like to research what people grow and eat in other parts of the world that have a similar climate to Texas.

“Mr. Cub” Never Played in World Series

T EXAS History Playing in his first full season for the Chicago Cubs, a skinny shortstop from Texas drove in the winning run with an 11th inning double on May 23, 1954 to beat the Dodgers. Halfway through the twentieth century baseball had yet to live up to its national pastime boast.

Why the Hatred?

To the editor: With regards to the factstarved diatribe by Sandy Hooper on the opinion page of today’s Fayette County Record: What on earth has happened to this person that caused them to demonize me? I’m a Democrat – my family have been Democrat since the ‘30s, and although some of us are to the left or to the right of the standard party line, we are still citizens of this nation, just like you are, Hooper. What right do you have to unilaterally condemn all Democrats as people who hate this nation? Does that include my husband, who served in Vietnam? Does that include my brother, who served at the end of the cold war? Does that include my Uncle Jack, who served in Korea? All Democrats.
