Thanks for Banking Info
To the editor:
I can not thank you enough for the public notice concerning the intent of an out of state no name bank holding company to acquire most of the banks in our area. I sent a letter to the Federal Reserve, and I pray that the people of Fayette, Colorado, and Austin counties take steps to make their displeasure known. This is stupid, that these banks who have been giving us great service for over 100 years are being sold to who? The “credit crunch” is being caused by laws-imposed by congress after they tried to ‘improve’ (gutted) the Glass-Steagall Banking Acts of 1932, The Banking Act of 1935, The National Bank Act of 1933, and the Bank Holding Act of 1956 not by a lack of money.
This country has too many poorly regulated too big to fail banks, that engage in too many nefarious schemes. We need our small banks, who are here to stay and know their communities and our needs. I do not want my financial decisions being made in some out of the country capital city, by people I don’t know. Please do your best to stop this nonsense. Cheryl Cook Columbus
