You Can’t Handle the Truth

As I considered how to respond to Mr. Green’s recent accusations, three things came to mind: 1) My Aunt Lucille used to always say when someone stirred up conflict, “Bless their hearts, they can’t help it, they are who they are”; 2) Jack Nicholson’s line in the movie ‘A Few Good Men,’ “You can’t handle the truth; and finally, 3) from yesterday’s church service, “Everything we do in life depends on truth.”
In this morning’s Bible lesson notes I was reminded “It’s no disgrace to be ignorant, but it’s a disgrace to stay ignorant.” The pastor’s reference was to ignorance of Bible truth. I think the same message applies to ignorance of what government’s responsibilities are. I am motivated to share the information I learn from reputable sources about what has happened in our election processes and legislatures that could and should influence a voter’s decision on candidates for office and the effects of the anti-authoritarian attitude that monopolizes and is promoted by many media outlets.
The more I learn about the Democratic Socialist agenda, Islam, sharia law, the left’s dark money network, and nonprofits that refuse to abide by the law professing their humanitarian ideals are more important, the more I realize how messed up Americans are and how close Americans are to forfeiting freedom “for a mess of pottage”. Think of those who have fought and died for your freedom. Freedom requires responsibility and each of us will be held responsible for our decisions in the end.
I don’t know who said it, but I believe it’s truth, “There is no one so blind as he who will not see.” The Bible scriptures tell us (Isaiah 5:20), “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” There are many in America today who are calling evil good and good evil, who are spreading darkness for light in their campaigning, in their financial contributions, in their humanitarianism, in academia.
Listen carefully, think for yourself, educate yourselves on the issues that affect freedom, educate your children and grandchildren on the foundational principles of America, on the Biblical principles of truth, be discerning, and do not be deceived or distracted by human viewpoint or false standards.
