Why the Fuss Over I.D?
To the Editor:
I’m retired, on a fixed income and live more than 12 miles from town. I have a Bank account, car insurance, driver’s licence, electric bill, medicare, social security and many other services and activities that require verified I.D. To access any or all I must prove who I am. To buy cigarettes, liquor or beer I must show proper I.D. To board a plane, at the doctors office, to get my medicine, I must also show I.D.
Why all the hysterics from these uninformed, narrow minded individuals about showing proper I.D. to vote? They admit it is illegal for non-citizens to vote. Making sure your vote is not negated or diluted by someone who is ineligible to vote, i.e. ex-cons and non-citizens, seems only logical to require proper I.D.
Anyone who does not at this time have said I.D. should begin getting the required documents to obtain one. Recognize that you cannot fly or drive or fish without it.
Very few people don’t have proper I.D. except noncitizens. Every person has to have one. Where is the problem?
Contact your local County Clerk for your birth certificate or the County of your birth. Any one of them will be glad to help you.
Quit making poorly thought-out excuses and get verified.
