Thoughts on ICE & Election
To the editor:
A comment on many of the letters and articles in the Aug. 14 issue of The Fayette County Record.
• Mr. Guerrero, I read your article several times trying to figure out if you and your father are legal citizens of the US. I could not find that information. I assume you are a legal citizen because ICE did not take you into custody. However, is your father a legal citizen in the US? If so, I am so sorry for what you are going through. If not, why do you act so surprised when ICE does their job?
• Ms. Citzler, you are right, Fayette County has wonderful and safe elections. We have a great administrator and honest people running the elections. However, there is a lot of “corruption” in the blue cities like Houston and other large cities. I’ve worked the elections in Houston and have seen it myself. So yes, many of our elections around the country are corrupt, that’s why the SAVE Act is so important.
• Now, on the issue of the “Non-partisan” League of Women Voters. I have met many of the women in the organization in Fayette County, lovely people and I commend their work on educating people to vote. However, who is kidding who? LWV is not a nonpartisan group. Look at their website and the issues they support (Abortion is not a “nonpartisan” issue.) Let’s face it, they try to represent themselves as non-partisan, but I think everyone really knows they are not.
