When Will You Ever Learn?

Pete Seeger’s song “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” is a protest song against the madness of war. It reminds me of our political situation right now, in real time. We are in a war, a fight to save our Democracy and we are urgently fighting to get the truth out. Thanks to Pete Seeger for his immortal words, “Oh, when will you ever learn?”
Here are some of the freedoms we are fighting for: Governor and Attorney General of Texas, both Republicans, are attacking Biden’s administration’s recently adopted 1X rules. The rules aim to protect survivors of abuse, LGBTQ+ students and their parents.
“Where has all the humanity gone? Long time passing.
When will you ever learn?” Biden backed a bipartisan U.S. Senate bill that would have allowed authorities to turn away migrants at the U.S./ Mexico border. Republicans rejected it when Trump came out in opposition for political reasons.
“Where has all the compromise gone? Long time ago.
When will you ever learn?” A former president is under going a criminal trial for paying hush money to a porn star in trying to influence the Presidential election. The January 6th Committee investigated the insurrection and found evidence of corruption in the Trump administration that led to it. Also, claims of voter fraud was investigated by states and none was found that could have changed the 2020 election.
“Where has all the sanity gone? Long time passing.
When will you ever learn?”
A Republican Governor reports that she shot a family pet for misbehaving in hopes, perhaps, it would show that she is a determined, strong candidate for a Republican ticket.
“Were has all the compassion gone? Long time ago.
When will you ever learn?” Former members of the Trump administration who dropped out because they couldn’t condone his disregard of law and order and the Constitution, and who were demonized by Trump are still considering supporting Trump if he is the Republican nominee.
“Where has all the courage gone? Long time passing.
When will you ever learn?”
