What I’m Learning
To the editor:
The letter from last week “When Will They Ever Learn” was very illuminating. The author is apparently a person of greater intellect than myself. She pointed out seven areas in which I have failed to learn. Three of her subjects are LGBTQ+, the border, and Kristi Noem. The other four are reserved for Donald Trump. I will briefly address the author’s admonitions one by one.
(1) Regarding Biden’s changes to Title IX rules, it is correct that I have not learned that biological boys should be allowed to compete with biological girls in sports. Sure, biological boys are bigger and stronger than biological girls, and it seems unfair to the girls. See what a slow learner I am.
(2) It is also correct that I have not learned that the Senate bill about illegal immigration is actually good for our country. The bill would give the president power to legally admit 5,000 illegal migrants per day into our country. This is the president that dismantled the most secure border our country has ever had. What could go wrong?
(3) The author wants me to learn that Kristi Noem has told a story about shooting a family pet in the hopes that it would improve her standing in the Republican party. It turns out that 20 years ago Governor Noem euthanized, by shooting, an unmanageable and dangerous hunting dog that had killed a neighbor’s chickens. Governor Noem says she put the story in her book, “No Going Back,” because it was going to get out anyway. This seems like a tempest in a teapot to me. I am a little more concerned about unborn babies than troublesome dogs. I am slow to learn again.
The remaining four admonitions might be categorized by some as “Trump derangement syndrome.” It is again correct that I have not learned to abandon Trump in spite of the four reasons enumerated in the article as follows.
(4) Trump is undergoing a criminal trail in New York for trying to influence the election. The criminal charge is for a federal crime over which the State of New York has no jurisdiction. The judge is a donor to the Democratic Party. His daughter raises money for Democrats. The jury pool comes from a city that is 87% Democrat. The lead prosecutor was recently in a high position in Biden’s administration. The timing of the trial is at the height of the campaign season. Trump alone is confined with a gag order. Why can’t I learn that it is not the people who are bringing this trial who are guilty of election interference, but Trump who is guilty?
(5) I am told that there was an insurrection on January 6, and it was caused by Trump. Yet the FBI has arrested over 900 people in connection with January 6 and no one has been charged with insurrection. I am slow to learn here also.
(6) The author says that no voter fraud was found that would have changed the 2020 election. I have learned that this is true. However, I am still troubled by the fact that no one in authority was willing to look very hard. Once the ballots are in, there is not much that can be done. There is ample circumstantial evidence of opportunity for fraud, e.g. widespread use of mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting, and ballot counting in Democrat controlled cities like Philadelphia and Atlanta without Republican oversight. There is plenty of evidence that it was not a fair election. 95% of news media and social media was slanted in favor of Democrats. Remember suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story? How can I be so slow to learn?
(7) The best admonition was saved for last. The author says that we must abandon Trump because of his “disregard for law and order and the Constitution.” The Democrats are using the law and the courts in novel ways in New York, Atlanta, Florida, and Washington D.C. to harm their main political enemy, Donald Trump. All of these trials are being brought in an election year in order to do the most political damage.
Well, you can see what a slow learner I am. I don’t recognize America anymore. I still believe in God, family, country, and the Constitution in that order. “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
