We Must Support Israel
To the editor:
In the midst of campaign jargon being thrown at us from all sides, there is another issue grabbing the daily headlines... Antisemitism. Most of us cast that aside saying it’s not happening here, so why bother. Obviously, Antisemitism didn’t end with the defeat of the Nazi war atrocities. Satan is alive and well and is determined as ever to annihilate God’s chosen people. We see this happening right before our eyes in our college campuses across the country. Why should we bother. After all, the kids will graduate and get over their negative feelings toward Israel.
A brief background...On May 14, 1948, history was made when David Ben-Gurion stood in Independence Hall in Tel Aviv and declared Israel to be, once again, a sovereign nation as prophesied over 2,500 years ago in Isaiah 66: 8-9, “Can a country be born in a day? Or a nation be brought forth in a moment?” Obviously, we know the answer. The day after Israel was miraculously reborn, she was in a brutal war for her survival with five Arab nations attacking the fledgling Jewish state, Israel had no choice but to fight and no option but to win.
Today, as Israel’s righteous battle against Hamas, Hezbollah and their puppet master Iran continues, the same is true. Israel must fight this heinous evil and must be victorious. Her very survival depends on it.
Nations, including America, are demanding Israel to engage in cease-fire negotiations with Hamas, disregarding the 130+ hostages still in captivity. They are forgetting the carnage Hamas created on October 7th, starting a war Israel didn’t want. Additionally, our President betrays Israel at the United Nations and is determined to withhold military support if Israel continues their attempts to eliminate the terrorists operating in Gaza. His response is a slap on Iran’s hand and of course, we have not forgotten the billions of dollars released to Iran during Obama’s presidency.
Make no mistake...in more ways than one, Israel’s fight is our fight. The Barbarians who attacked the Jewish state have their eye on the West and that includes America. Christians must draw the line in the sand and declare Never Again with one united voice. Right now, our solidarity for Zion’s sake matters like never before. What we do, or fail to do, will help determine Israel’s future and the future of America.
Since her existence, Israel has fought against mortal enemies seeking her destruction, but God’s covenant nation has not only emerged victorious, but has become a strong nation in the struggle. So why support Israel?
God did...He was the first Zionist. As the original owner of all lands, He gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants the land of Israel forever, even describing the boundaries in detail.
Jesus did...He personally taught us by His conduct that Gentiles who support national Israel have His special blessing.
Paul did...He records the relationship Gentiles are to have with the Jewish people in his letter to the Romans 15:27, “for if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is to minister to them in material things.”
This is not the time for America, especially Christians, to remain silent. As war rages on between Israel and her enemies, we must stand shoulderto- shoulder with our Jewish brothers and sisters. Genesis 12:3 states simply, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you”.
