Unfairly Vilified
To the Editor:
Round Top and our Courthouse have made headlines the last few weeks, and this paper has not presented our town in the best light. This depiction is extremely unfair. Being the Mayor of Round Top or any town, is not an easy job. It requires long hours and dealing with complaints and issues from every direction. Mayor Judith Vincent is doing a great job, as is all of our council members. Many people in town agree with me on this, but you will always have the naysayers.
Mayor Vincent said in the beginning her office will be open, transparent and available to discuss any and all issues pertaining to Round Top, and she has done just that. At the Mayor’s recent Town Hall she talked about the Town’s accomplishments and upcoming priorities. One of those priorities was the continuation of the work to improve the Town Square which has been underway for over a year. That next phase of work will include restoring the courthouse where a range of possibilities was mentioned, but only one was heard, and the Mayor’s being vilified because of this. The Mayor and Council clearly know how the public feels and I am confident those wishes will be honored. The town of Round Top is lucky to have Judith Vincent at the helm. The Town is growing and changing, whether we like it or not. We need someone like Mayor Vincent with her skill set to help guide us through these changes.
And a side note to Andy Behlen, gardening season is upon us, and I encourage you to steer your talents back towards gardening. Your gardening articles are always very informative. However, in my opinion, your reporting on other topics appear way too biased and divisive.
