TxDot Headaches

To the editor:

And still we cannot drive unassisted from Round Top to La Grange via the 159/237 corridor!

When this project started in early June, we thought it would take a couple months to complete what was described as “the project”. And here we sit two-plus months later waiting in line for the “pilot vehicle” to appear and lead us thru. Any ones guess as to how much time and fuel is spent in this wait by the string of stationary vehicles, as well as the atmospheric contamination. I have done this wait several times and failed to see much progress over the several weeks.

I wonder if TxDOT and Hunter Industries managers have not reached at least one and possibly more than one level above their competency in their positions, suggesting the Peter Principle is at work here. Considering the Courthouse barricade, the Bluff business and this project, it appears that TxDOT is really suffering from this Peter Principle with many of its managers not competent at their position. It also appears that TxDOT does not believe in the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

We have not heard any information as to when this 237/159 project might be finished; perhaps it is a secret. Or maybe never!
