Trump’s Tantrums

To the Editor:

The original field of Republican candidates for President 2024 was crowded – 14 Republicans had announced their Presidential campaign objectives. Several of these presidential candidates debated publicly on a stage in August 2023. Trump, the “presumptive Republican nominee” has refused to participate in debating.

Why, after spending lots of money and time campaigning to be the Republican nominee for President, did DeSantis, Scott, and Ramaswamy, immediately endorse Trump after only two early state contests— Iowa, and New Hampshire?

According to Gerald Baker, WSJ, Jan. 29, 2024, DeSantis, Scott, and Ramaswamy have “all endured ritual humiliation at the hands of their master and then bowed and scraped for some small scrap of recognition from him.” I have a friend, who after these changes said, “Can you believe all these servile minions are falling at the feet of Mr. Despicable?” Have Cornyn, Cruz, and Texas Republican Party Chair Matt Rinaldi endured similar humiliation and that is why they are also jumping on the Trump bandwagon especially after Trump’s “tantrum” after the New Hampshire primary?

Trump’s reaction to Haley’s post New Hampshire primary speech in addition to his unwillingness to debate are examples of his antagonistic attitude regarding competition. CNBC reported Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, “In a post on the Truth Social social media platform, former U.S. President Donald Trump said that anyone who contributes to Haley’s platform “from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them.” In an article in WSJ, “Trump Throws a New Hamphire Tantrum,” Trump is quoted saying, “I don’t get too angry, I get even.” Didn’t Trump choose Haley for his United Nations Ambassador? Where’s the respect for her as a candidate? Tantrums are not unifying or even appropriate!

Did you know, according to apnews.com, “The Republican National Committee (RNC) is meeting behind closed doors this week as some allies of Donald Trump had hoped to put the group’s stamp on the former president early in the 2024 GOP presidential nominating campaign”? Thankfully, the proposed resolution has been removed from the agenda before the scheduled committee meeting. The idea that the RNC would cater to such pressure should disturb every Republican! I have since learned Trump says he wants primaries.

What if Nikki Haley is right about -“The worst kept secret in Washington is how badly the Democrats want to run against Donald Trump” and “you can’t fix Joe Biden’s chaos with Donald Trump’s chaos”? What she is definitely right about is “Republicans have lost with Trump almost every competitive election-the Senate, the House, the White House-in 2018, 2020, 2022” with the help of disgruntled Republicans and Democrats.

Think about the kind of leadershipAmerica needs now! America is not a democracy. We select our leaders based on exercising our rational faculties. Don’t be deceived by political lies. Don’t be manipulated. American is great because voters consider facts, by acting responsibly, voting for integrity, focus on core values and honesty.
