Thank You Judge Mueller

To the Editor:

Open Letter to Dan Mueller County Judge Fayette County Texas Last Wednesday (July 26) we met with you, precinct 2 Commissioner Luke Sternadel, and representatives from Magnolia Oil company. This was the third meeting with you on the special situation of a proximity issue with the Magnolia Gas compressor.

At the onset of the first meeting, the residents realized that the State of Texas limits what actions you and all County Judges in the State of Texas can take outside of Municipalities. You are limited to the action and laws allocated to you from the State of Texas. However, that did not stop you from listening and intervening. You could have said: “There is nothing we can do” But you didn’t! You listened and took action on our behalf. Obviously, as we now know, your actions were not a requirement of a Judge or a Commissioner in the State of Texas. The second meeting with you and all the Fayette County commissioners was actually an open working, very productive session, where we had an opportunity to vent our issues and frustrations. I believe the outcome and the dialogue with Magnolia Oil during the third meeting is large and will send a far-reaching message to other oil companies that want to do business in Fayette County.
