Step Up for Our Local Animal Shelter

To the Editor:

As a new resident in La Grange, I am so impressed with the animal shelter. I have lived in many towns and Gardenia Janssen is the best I have seen. So very clean, the animals receive excellent care and the staff is dedicated and 100% involved. They work hard and put in a lot of hours.

I hope La Grange understands the importance of this facility. Have you ever lived anywhere there are strays everywhere? Where there are dead dogs and cats rotting in the streets? If it were not for this shelter, I can’t imagine the situation La Grange and Fayette County would be in.

I urge every citizen in some way to support G.J.S. financially, volunteering, maybe just a call or a visit to say thank you. Please step up and take responsibility. Realize the valuable asset you have. Spay and neuter your pets, there is help available.

Contact your local officials and insist they be involved. I have read that La Grange prides itself on providing services with honor, integrity, and pride. These services extend to our animals also. They get hungry, thirsty, and hurt as we do. Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, God cares and so should we.
