Spinning Information

To the editor:

I am responding to opinion letters by Ms. Hooper, Ms. Tietjen, and Parks Tilly from last week. I learned from these letters that alternative facts are not facts. They are lies or a spin on information. I am not addressing all of them, just a few that are so obvious.

Alternative fact: there were no Republicans on the January 6th Committee.

Fact: Republicans were invited to be on the committee and refused. Liz Chaney, a very conservative Republican was on the committee and Adam Kinginger, a Republican.

Alternative fact: Biden would be allowed to admit 5,000 illegal migrants per day to cross border under the bipartisan bill that was stopped by Republicans.

Fact: Migrants are neither illegal or legal when they cross the border. They must go through a process before being legally admitted.

Alternative fact: Democrats are using the justice system as a weapon against political opponents.

Fact: This rant and the many others are just the writer’s opinion. There are many Democrats and Republicans who respect truth.

What I really learned from these letters is: “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”; however, there are folks more than willing to “drink the kool-ade.”
