Schulenburg PD Respond to Animal Complaints, Disturbances
Schulenburg Police Cheif Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 31 through On Nov. 6.
Animal Complaint
On Nov. 1, Sgt. Tobey McFadden responded to the 1100 block of Hillje for dogs being chained and not having access to food or water. Dogs had bowls but officer could not see if they were full. The dogs appeared fat and healthy.
On Nov. 3, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 500 block of N. Main in regard to two dogs running down the road. Officer found dogs and took them back to their owner. The owner was informed that the next time they get out a citation would be issued.
On Nov. 3, Officer Chris Kalina responded to a dog on a chain in the 1100 block of Hillje. Officer observed a dog on a chain within the guidelines of the law and observed food and water in bowls. The dog appeared to be healthy and in good condition. Officer will monitor the dogs.
Disturbance
On Nov. 1, Officer Brent Gindler responded to a disturbance at the Family Dollar in the 82 block of Kessler. A worker was having issues with her 10-year-old son not wanting to go to school. Officer spoke with them and child went to school.
On Nov. 3, Vincent was dispatched to the 1100 block of JA Green St. in reference to a disturbance. When officer arrived the officer was advised the other party was gone and the complainant was upset that a fight happened at her house.
On Nov. 6, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 700 block of Kessler to remove drivers that refused to move from a reserved and no parking zone.
Harassment
On Nov. 5, Gindler responded to the 1200 block of Kellet for harassment between a lady and her employer.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Nov. 1, Gindler responded to the 200 block of Russek for a suspicious female in aback yard.
Traffic Stops
On Oct. 31, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for driving without a headlight when required. A warning was issued.
On Nov. 1, Officer Duane Meagher stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. A citation was issued.
On Nov. 2, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler on a vehicle he recognized the driver as not having a learners permit or a drivers license. A citation for all the violations was issued and the parent picked her up and was issued a citation as well.
On Nov. 2, Parkinson made contact with individual that advised he did not see the emergency vehicle only sign in the 700 block of N. Kessler and he was issued a warning for disregarding the warning sign and for expired registration and for no drivers license and failed to maintain insurance.
No. 3, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for vehicle with a defective headlamp. A warning was issued.
On Nov. 3, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone and a citation was issued.

On Nov. 4, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued for going 33 in a 25.
On Nov. 4, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 200 block of Kessler. Driver was going 41 in a 25 and a citation was issued.
On Nov. 4, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 200 block of Kessler for going 38 in a 25. Citation was issued.
On Nov. 4, Sgt. Rusty Roggenkamp stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. Vehicle was going 37 in a 25 and a citation was issued.
On Nov. 4, Meagher stopped a vehicle in a school zone in the 100 block of Kessler for going 42 in a 25. Citation was issued.
On Nov. 4, Meagher stopped a vehicle for speeding in the school zone in the 100 block of Kessler. Driver was going 39 in a 25 and a citation was issued.
On Nov. 6, Gindler picked up a pole in the middle of the road in the 1000 block of Kallus.
On Nov. 6, Parkinson issued a warning to a driver at the intersection of Summit and US Hwy. 77 for running a stop sign.
On Nov. 6, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for running a red light at Summit and US 77. Officer learned the driver did not have a drivers license and a citation was issued.
Welfare check
On Nov. 3, Vincent conducted a welfare check in the 100 block of Cardinal Ave. for kids not coming to school. Mother advised she was keeping her kids at home so they could help her move. Officer advised if her kids were not at school the school would pursue truancy charges.
Miscellaneous
On Nov. 2, Gindler moved two tires in the road at the underpass at 600 S. Main.
On Nov. 2, McFadden was dispatch to the 800-block of Kessler for a female who had been standing on top of the overpass looking over. Officer was unable to locate the female.
On Nov. 3, Kalina responded to the 200 block of E. Summit and spoke to individual about her son running away. As officer talked to the mother she learned her son was next door at his grandma’s house.
