Rally for Ukraine

To the Editor:

Up until a few days ago, the United States government supported our ally, Ukraine, a free country that had been invaded by Russia three years ago. The elected leader of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, recently met with our president, Trump, to discuss continuation of support for the war in Ukraine. Trump’s bullying side emerged with the help of our Vice President, J.D. Vance. The two ganged up on Zelenskyy and berated his bravery and accused him of not being grateful enough to the U.S. for their help. He tried to defend himself, but the two bullies blamed him for the breakdown in communication. The meeting ended with Zelenskyy being asked to leave the White House. He and the brave soldiers of Ukraine were left in limbo. Leaders in Europe have rallied around Ukraine.

On March 2 at 3 p.m., in a sea of blue and yellow representing the colors of the Ukrainian flag, a rally was held on the streets of La Grange for our ally, Ukraine. Fayette County was represented by folks from La Grange, Round Top, Fayetteville, and Schulenburg. The counties of Bastrop, Burleson, and Colorado were represented. We were privileged to have a Ukrainian family from the town of Columbus join the rally.

This peaceful rally continued for about an hour with honks and waves from passing cars to show their support.
