One Nation Under God
To the editor:
I know we are an angry country right now. If all of this name calling and anger with each other doesn’t stop, I don’t know if we can hold our nation together. It doesn’t matter any longer who started it. We have to have level heads, come together and stop acting this way. It starts with each of us as individuals.
A lot of us read or saw Robert De Niro Wednesday on the news. It elicited various passionate responses. We are talking about a man who acts for his career. He has made a success out of making anyone, anywhere, believe he is a saint or the most vile person ever to exist. We watch these type of things everyday on TV or social media and so do our children and grandchildren. A lot of us freely express our opinions and beliefs. Those same children hear our responses and it affects them. In turn, they begin to imitate us and pass it on. In this case, we honestly do not know De Niro, the man, and we really do not know what he feels in his heart. Only God does. It is His job to pass final judgment. Jesus forgave people who we, as human beings, find almost impossible to even accept.
I understand that some situations we face today are intolerable. However, we are not going to get anywhere close to solving social issues by insulting or screaming and yelling at each other. I know our government has gotten out of control. I get it. The solution lies in front of our eyes. One Nation Under God, Indivisible. Read it again. Think about it. Like it or not, we are a Christian Nation. Get back to God. Rearrange your attitudes. We catch more flies with sugar than vinegar. It starts with every single one of us. It spreads through our families and our friends and our neighbors! Nowadays, the more we get, the more we want. Too many of our citizens, Americans all, have given in to pure evil in the name of money, greed and control. Together, we can stop all this chaos. It begins with the faith of a mustard seed.
