One of my Favorite Uncle Jerry Stories

One of my Favorite Uncle Jerry Stories

This is one of the many stories conveyed to me by my favorite uncle, Jerry Kana. He was very comical and always told me jokes and funny stories. Whether the following story carries any truth to it, I cannot verify, but I feel it is worth repeating.

Seems like this ordinary looking farmer walked into the Post Oak Beer Joint one evening and sat down at the crowded bar. He sat next to another guy who was nursing a beer at the time. After a few minutes of conversation, he stuck out his hand and said, “By the way, my name is Jack, what’s yours?”

The farmer shook his hand and said, “Well, there are some who just call me Jesus Christ!” “Jesus Christ?—you have got to be kidding. Look at you, you’re missing a front tooth, you need a haircut and a shave, missing one strap on your overalls, and you mean to tell me there is someone out there who calls you Jesus Christ?”

“Yep, the farmer replied, and I’ll bet you ten dollars and two free beers that I can take you to a place right now and prove to you they’ll call me Jesus Christ.”

So after taking the bet, they left the beer joint and traveled through town heading east for a few minutes. They veered off the highway; and, after traveling a bit into a wooded area they came upon some wooden buildings called “The Chicken Ranch.”

After knocking on the door of the main building, a woman dressed in a flashy dress opened the door and upon seeing the guy in the overalls exclaimed, “Jesus Christ—it’s you again!” After saying their farewells, they got into the car and went back to Post Oak.

There he enjoyed drinking his two free beers and bought a round for all others at the bar with the $10 he had just won!
