Neighbors and Friends
To the Editor:
Whether you voted as an Independent, Democrat, or Republican, or chose not to vote - no matter how you voted - you are loved.
We have heard your opinions. We have seen your zeal. We have seen your worry. We have seen your pursuit of truth. We have seen your desire to make a difference. We have seen… well, we have seen.
I believe that the zeal, worry, opinions, pursuit of truth, and desire to make a difference is because you care deeply for your country, your values, your kids and grandkids’ future, your community, and your neighbors.
Thank you for caring about your neighbors.
Now that the election is over - let’s be zealous, let’s make a difference, let’s be seen…shoulder to shoulder worshiping together, serving together, cheering each other on.
Let’s be the solution to the problems we’ve voted for. Let’s be the change we want.
Let’s be seen…loving our neighbor.
I’m proud to be your neighbor. I believe I have incredible neighbors. Some of you I know. Some of you I cannot wait to get to know. You have and will continue to enrich my life.
As the wonderful theologian Mr. Rogers said, “It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood. A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you please, won’t you please? Please, won’t you be my neighbor? Neighbors are people who are close to us And friends are people who are close to our hearts, I like to think of you as my neighbor and my friend.”
