My Questions for Liberals
To the editor:
Our nation is currently in major spiritual warfare between Christians and non-Christians. Numerous books have been written about this in the past half century, and a current one is entitled “America in the Balance”, by Rick Scarborough and Steve Feazel. A quote from that book: “Christianity is seen as an enemy to most Liberal Democrats because they know studies have shown that the more devoted a person is to the Christian faith, the more likely they are to vote for conservative candidates found in the Republican Party. The Left desires the seats of power and Christianity is seen as restricting that goal. America was founded on the concept that our rights come from God, not the government. The liberal statist, who sees government as all powerful, must regard the Christian faith and the God it worships as competition to be neutralized, not a national foundation stone to respect.”
When it comes to deciding what is right or wrong, or what is good or evil, or what is moral or immoral, the conservative turns to the Word of God, the Bible, for the foundation for making those decisions. He knows the Bible makes clear that natural human thoughts and desires are very sinful and that he must deny himself of these and surrender his weaknesses to the God that created him, loves him, and wants the very best for him. He knows that trust and obedience to a Holy God is the ultimate answer to all problems.
I have a few questions for the liberals who write letters to this paper, and they are honest questions not meant to be rhetorical or sarcastic. The questions are: 1. When it comes to deciding what is right or wrong in decisions about critical things like abortion, homosexual relationships, and transgender, what is it that you base those decisions on, and why? 2. If the Bible plays a role in the decisions, do you view the Word of God as absolute truth that is to be studied for its true meaning, or relative truth where each individual can interpret God’s word as they see fit, and can change that from one day to the next?
