Listen to the People

To the editor:

In Mr. Green’s letter last Friday, he made mention of an ‘infrastructure deal’ that benefited Fayette County. Was he referring to the Bluff Bypass issue? As I read Mr. Wick’s article, our local leaders, who were elected to serve the residents of Fayette County, have received several negative responses from the landowners and have the power to tell Tx-DOT their project is not wanted. TxDOT has said they will not proceed without the blessing of the county government. Why is the county government holding back? Why would the county judge, Dan Mueller, give the “final say whether or not to build the bypass” to Tx-DOT and not stand up for the private property rights of Fayette County families?

I was not surprised by Mr. Green’s reaction to Speaker Johnson’s comments on Biden’s stepping down which resulted in accusations of “nontruths and half-truths”. I understand Mr. Green’s inability to accept the truth. Mr. Biden has not ‘overseen the strongest economy recovery’ but a Conservative Enterprise Institute annual report released Tuesday titled ‘Ten Thousand Commandments,’ gives Biden credit for today’s “Households paying an average of $15,788 in hidden regulatory costs…. The changes highlighted in this year’s report can be attributed to Biden’s Executive Order 14094, titled “Modernizing Regulatory Review.”

“To be explicitly clear” Biden’s “decision” to step down was not a “selfless, bold, or empathetic act.” Biden was defiant after the June 27 presidential debate debacle that he was not going anywhere, “despite overwhelming pressure from party elites and sycophantic media lap dogs demanding he do precisely that.” If Biden had “put the country above oneself,” he would have declared he would not run for a second term. Qualified Democrat candidates could have gotten their names on ballots and won primary elections instead of staging a coup. Josh Hammer, syndicated columnist and senior editorat- large at Newsweek, stated, “The Democrats’ decision to coup their own president is a curious one on the political merits.”

Kamala Harris’s “positional dishonesty—the fact that she has now shifted virtually every position she ever held—is not evidence that she is a liar, but that she is astute and clever.” However, she owns every one of Bidens’ policy failures. “Kamala Harris, every elected Democrat, and their stenographers in the mainstream media will run from their record, but they can’t hide,” Rep. Elise Stefanik. Her record is engrained in the minds of American voters because of the costs of the increasing illegal immigrant population.

Daniel McCarthy, editor of Modern Age, reports, “With a little help from friends in media and tech, Harris’ record as President Joe Biden’s “border czar” and America’s “most liberal” senator (according to GovTrack in 2019) is being erased. The Harris campaign so far has been all about vibes, not substance.”

As Mr. Hammer says, “The 14 million people who voted for Biden in the Democratic primaries ought to be livid. Rust Belt voters ought to be bemused. But Trump and running mate JD Vance ought to be ecstatic.”
