Dumbed Down Voting is UnAmerican
To the Editor:
In this age of the snubbed, the silenced and the criminalization of free speech, aka dis-information, you still have a choice. You can choose to be the one no one talks to, the one made invisible, and you can choose to be the courageous purveyor of what once was the hallmark of being American, speaking your mind, while so many others are loosing theirs, conforming to cult-like beliefs and behavior. America once was proof that minds — open to the idea that tomorrow’s truth lies beyond the bounds of today’s knowledge — could fire advances in science and philosophy at a pace that shot a roomful of revolutionaries into an orbit of ascendancy no other nation, no other civilization had ever come close to. America stood for strength through independence and the defiance of naysaying conformity. Not so now.
Welcome to the country formerly known as The United States of America. If you don’t recognize the country, it could be that you don’t see many real Americans here. What you do see is fear and loathing of the worst kind. The threats keep growing: fear of the weather, fear of getting sick, fear of getting old, fear of not being a good person. . . Oh, that last one has millions of good people bankrupting their country, trashing their freedoms and throwing away their future, all for the sake of proving they are good people. The litany of foolishness done in the name of good is gagging. But the one foolishness, the one do-good idea gone bad, that is destroying the fabric of American life, is believing that voting is a right — like the right to eat cake, or be kissed good night by your mom.
There is nothing more corrosive to everything American than the idea that voting is a gift whose full realization exists in the act of marking a ballot. Consider the nation of Israel surrounded by millions of hostile Arabs allowing all of them to cross their borders, become citizens of Israel and join in their elections. Without firing a gun or launching a rocket, their sworn enemy will have taken them over.
Elections in a self governing republic like ours not only choose leaders, they indirectly define culture, fuel the economy, and ultimately determine every part of our lives. No one of sound mind wants to live in a place where idiots and enemies make all the decisions. For that reason, voting bears a responsibility to know the how and why of America. Failing this, the country stands to lose everything to the inevitable failings of human nature, and to elected officials more interested in themselves than in the people who voted for them.
Bulkmailingballotsandfailing to secure elections from inevitable fraud is not doing good. It is an act of political suicide. It is a real insurrection against every day folks perpetrated by a government run by the corrupt and trying to convince you other wise. If you don’t believe it, then ask yourself, “What was Hunter Biden selling, and why was he able to keep selling it for decades? Elections are not a right. They are a responsibility.
