Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

I was moved to reply to the front-page article regarding Becky Snyder’s opinion of the need for an apology from the school board to the librarians. From what I read in the article, the librarians were never insulted, but the books being put into the school system were. In our community, many of these books would be considered “filth” and many of us do not appreciate attempts by certain parties to indoctrinate our children to certain political viewpoints and normalizing certain behaviors. A debate could be held about the benefits to secular society of having some information on alternate lifestyles available to high school students, but making these types of questionable materials available to first grade children seems, in the very least, inappropriate in any community and especially Fayette County.
