Congressional Criminals

To the editor:

Daily we hear and read scandalous news attributed to persons of note. Hollywood stars, high profile business people, religious ministers, professional athletes, etc., make the headlines regularly. Recently, there was a behavioral list that I found quite stunning and my “guess who” attempt took me far from reality. Having spent a few years at the professional level in baseball, I could see where some of my teammates and opponents could well fit comfortably in some of the activities below. The list consisted of the following recent behavior:

• 36 have been accused of Spousal Abuse

• 7 have been arrested for Fraud

• 19 have been accused of Writing Bad Checks

• 119 have directly or indirectly Bankrupted at least 2 businesses

• 3 have served jail time for Assault

• 71 cannot get a credit card due to their Bad Credit

• 14 have been arrested on Drug Charges

• 8 have been arrested for Shoplifting

• 21 are currently Defendants in Lawsuits My first guess was surely the corrupt Hollywood crowd would easily fit.

THE ANSWER...None of the above mentioned. All these crimes have come from the 435 members of the United States Congress. Not sure how recent is “recent,” but even a course of years is great concern. Just imagine if one expands those numbers to include the Executive Branch of Government and possibly the Judicial Branch (CIA, DOJ, FBI, etc. Oh, and it may be an appropriate time to throw in the IRS). America, we have a problem!

Truly, November can’t come soon enough. Of course, it goes with out saying, every person elected or appointed will be imperfect. Even righteous, God-fearing people will have their failures and faults treated microscopically by the opposition. This does not allow us to stay at home when we have the opportunity to vote.

The recent Texas Primary brought to light some local issues of concern. Casual conversations with a number of friends and neighbors startled me with their statements: “We’re not voting ... can’t find anybody we like” or “Don’t know enough about the ones running.” Such poor excuses startled me. The Record reflected Fayette County has the same problem. Of the 17,972 registered voters, only 6,287 votes were cast (34.98%). Texas voters reflected even worse...Only 18% of the registered voters chose to vote in the recent primary.

It’s time for all registered voters to find out who the candidates are and their position on items of importance. We the people are the problem when we stay away on election day. Evil prevails when we don’t wake up, stand up and speak up for the candidates that best represent Godly Principles ... like the Sanctity of Life, Sanctity of Marriage, Protection of our Border, etc. The Bible provides the course for making right decisions and possibly reduce the evil deeds reflected in those serving us in Congress. By all means vote and tell all your friends, neighbors and acquaintances to vote. Bottom line...VOTE THE BIBLE!!!
