Last Call for Team America
To the editor:
When it seems like we walk oneggstryingtoguessonwhich side of our contentious politics someone has bonded — would that it was as innocent a game – fans of the Texans versus those with affections for the Steelers. But no. For too long we have let down our guard. We mistook a responsibility as an entitlement. We never expected the mess we are in could happen inAmerica. And stupidly we bought the fiction that someone other than ourselves is to blame. And boy, do we take our finger pointing seriously. Just read a few of the letters published here, week after week.
We are no longer proud fans of Team America. Our good sense has been par boiled to a state of mush. We see and condone corruption in every corner of our lives. We actually expect our politicians to get rich in DC.And our sense of color is suspect too when we see white and black as the new red and blue. It’s nuts we do not see twenty million invading illegals registering to vote in our elections as more than a savvy political ploy. For a self-governing people, it’s national suicide. We simply do not understand that it is the American culture where the buck stops. Our Constitution is not defended with guns. It’s fate rests in our self-perceptions. When America looks in a mirror will it see a free and prosperous, but disciplined, people or an impoverished third world nation.
In just four years, we the electorate have been treasonously deceived and divided by media now propagandists who serve only the interests of those paying their bills — by a modern Inquisition in the January 6 Committee — and by a sorely political Justice Department, enabling law-fare against political opponents. The economy has been bushwhacked. Wars are heating up all over the globe. Commercial real estate is in a $1.2 trillion debt and occupancy crisis. Banks are vulnerable. Crime is in everyone’s neighborhood. Drugs are killing hundreds of thousands of Americans each year.
Our nation is nearing a state of divisive exhaustion. Like vultures, our enemies circle and wait. If you are a Republican blaming Democrats, you are a damn fool. If you are a Democrat blaming Republicans, for heaven’s sake why? We, both the red and the blue teams, are not by nature racist. We are not uncaring. We are not greedy. We work hard for our money. Nor are we uncharitable and unsupportive of those who need help. The real battle is between government that wants not to be obligated to anyone, and the people who once were in charge.
We have one last chance to get back our government. It will require each of us to shed our party bias and look honestly at our circumstances and the choices before us. and pick what we believe will get us back on the road again. It will not be an easy choice, but making it will make us stronger citizens, and stronger citizens make a strong country.
