La Grange’s Drainage Saga

To the editor:

Citizens of La Grange, I attended Monday’s city council meeting and I was very impressed with our new city manager JT. I believe he is trying to make our downtown a booming area. But, they must do something about the drainage problem. Examples: water collects like an ocean at the Faison Home resulting in difficulty in getting downtown. The intersection of Travis and Jefferson also floods and one of Chip’s cars could float into the concrete flower boxes. Then the intersection by our Post Office, Colorado and Jefferson Streets also looks like a pond. All of Lincke’s carpet rolls will be floating downstream to the concrete flower boxes, too. Our historic downtown business district is also in danger of flooding because of drainage problems. Latte on the Square is in danger of losing their coffee beans and delicious pastries due to drainage. And let’s not forget Larry at Lukas Bakery and his delicious pigs. He starts baking at 4 a.m. and if the current of the water is too great, he also will disappoint his faithful customers. The drainage also affects many citizens of our city, like me.

We were informed by an attorney that this is not really our problem…the city is responsible for solving this problem for us. In my next letter, I will address the funding to fix the drainage and the misappropriation of Hurricane Harvey funds by past administrations. I’m positive JT can find La Grange the $8 million to initialize fixing the drainage.

God Bless America and God Bless you.
