Joy and Hope
To the editor:
I believe it is more natural to be drawn to the light. Darkness is chaotic and depressing. For years now , I and many others have been frightened and confused by the darkness and division Trump has perpetuated by his rhetoric.
I have witnessed in our own community disturbing school board meetings with citizens calling for the banning of books, witnessed a Trump flag flying on a church’s parsonage, read letter’s on the opinion page of our paper demonizing one political party with lies. I have listened to news about unjustified violence against children and minorities.
Now it is time to embrace joy and hope, to move toward lightness. To be pulled into darkness is scary and sickening and goes against what America is all about. We are a country of diverse people, beliefs, and religions. That’s why our Founding Fathers felt that politics and religion should stay separate.
Freedom and Democracy are on the ballot this election. We cannot go back. We must move forward with hope and joy. Vote for the party that stands for unity and for all Americans.
