Inventions/Memories
Times, they have changed.
And I’m talking since I was a mere babe in the 1940s to this new century. It is like we are in a new world, one many of us never dreamed would or could occur.
Some of the things I remember in the 40s, 50s, and 60s are considered so obsolete today they are relics, but not in my mind. Do you remember when some of these things happened or were invented:
• Pulling the choke to start your car?
• Paying 60¢ for a dozen eggs?
• Gasoline costing 25¢ a gallon?
• Soft drinks selling for 5¢ a bottle?
• Peaches, pineapples, and pears mainly in cans?
• Only iceberg lettuce at the grocery stores?
• Dress lengths below the knee?
• Hair hooked up to a machine to get a permanent?
• When flat top haircuts were a rage?
• Penny loafers were popular?
• Women wearing scarfs to protect their hairstyles? And who would have thought of these things in 1950?
• Lil Abner wouldn’t be in the comics?
• Men on the moon?
• Homes costing millions of dollars?
• Baby children using computers?
• Seat belts in cars?
• Light beer?
• Walmart and Target?
• Ziplock bags?
• LED lights?
• Cell phones? Oh yes, times have changed, and we aren’t going back!
