Freedoms Attacked by ‘Fay Co Says No’ Group
To the editor:
First it was wind turbines, because we didn’t want our views interrupted. Then it was battery storage and solar panels, because a commissioner might make a dollar. Now it’s suing our neighbors for nuisance, and anything can be considered a nuisance if you have enough hate in your heart. This is no longer about green energy; this is an all-out attack on our freedoms by people who likely consider themselves conservatives.
What comes next can be easily ascertained by reading a history book. The idea of “protecting our land” isn’t a new one and has been used many times before to rid societies of undesirable elements, most notably in the 1940s when our grandfathers went to Europe to stop another demagogue who was just trying to “protect his country.” No doubt that he had a list of all of those who opposed him, too. If you don’t understand my reference, T.J. Mac admitted to having a list of people who oppose their group.
What began as vocal opposition to protect our county’s beauty has become a sword that is dividing this county and the people within it. I implore Fay Co Says No to stop your onslaught against the principles of liberty that we hold so dear as Americans, against the property rights that we hold so dear as Texans, and against the golden rule to “do unto others as you would have them do unto” that we are commanded to do by Jesus. Please consider the potential dangers of your anti-American, anti-Texan, and anti-Christian actions, no matter how brilliant of an idea it may be to a lawyer who stands to make a small fortune from it.
Our founding fathers gave up their fortunes to create this land of liberty, our ancestors left everything they knew in the old country to attain it, our grandfathers and their brothers went back to Europe to kill and die for it. Please don’t discard what “Makes America Great” because you have more land than your neighbor and think you know what’s best for them. To quote George Washington, “freedom and property rights are inseparable, you can’t have one without the other.”
