My reactions to some recent letters to the editor ...
To Terry Hynous: Let’s start with the fact that illegal aliens have already committed a crime against Americans by being in this country illegally. Then let’s face the fact that every person in this country who was killed by an illegal alien would still be alive…including the women mentioned in Mr. Tilly’s letter, if not for illegal aliens being allowed in this country. These women were murdered by monsters. No sane person would call them anything else. I think every Democrat should have to listen to the recording the police heard from Laken Riley’s phone as she screamed and fought for her life as that monster beat and strangled her to death.
To common sense gun control: well, here’s some common sense…guns don’t kill people; people kill people.As I’ve mentioned previously on this topic, my gun can sit on the dining room table for a month, and it will never get up and kill someone. Lumping legal gun ownership with murders by guns is a typical Democrat talking point. I’d say 99% of gun murders in this country are committed by people who are either mentally ill or criminals, all of whom shouldn’t have a weapon in the first place. So, let’s talk about those subjects and what to do about that and stop trying to take guns away from legal gun owners. But Democrats don’t care about the above points. Their ultimate goal is to disarm all of America and once our weapons are gone, we will become a socialist/communist country. Which, by the way, we were very close to becoming before President Trump’s election. Thank God. The only thing keeping Democrats somewhat in check is the massive number of weapons and ammo owned by legal gun owning Americans.
To the common Democrat talking point on “assault type weapons.” There is no such thing as an “assault type weapon.” An assault weapon is a fully automatic weapon; meaning you pull the trigger, and it fires continuously, i.e., a machine gun. Automatic weapons are very difficult to get. The AR-15 (a common target of Democrats) is a semi-automatic weapon just like a rifle or a handgun. Single pull; single fire. The person pulling the trigger is the murderer, not the weapon. I’m guessing your “relatively simple solutions” include removing all guns from everyone. I’ll quote Charlton Heston “They can have my guns when they pull them from my cold, dead hands.”
The Founding Fathers knew how important it was for this country’s citizenry to be armed. Hence the Second Amendment. What I’m guessing they didn’t count on was a political party (democrats) allowing violent criminals not only into the country but also allowing violent criminals out of prison or not even going to prison. They had the foresight to see the possibility that our government would become an enemy of the people. Cue the Democrat party. So, spare me your fake concern about guns and common-sense gun laws.
To Ian Julian: your information from the Cato Institute is only part of the picture, which is so typical of a Democrat trying to justify illegal aliens being in this country. I did some research on the total criminal convictions for illegal aliens from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website. In 2024 alone, the total convictions of criminal aliens was 20,884. Included in this number were: assault, battery, domestic violence – 1,084; burglary, robbery, larceny, theft, fraud – 697; driving under the influence – 2,844; homicide, manslaughter – 29; illegal drug possession, trafficking – 1,566; illegal entry, re-entry – 10,935; illegal weapons possession, transport, trafficking – 232; sexual offenses – 221; other (things not mentioned above) 3,276.As I said these are just the numbers from only 2024.
When you add all four years together for President Trump versus Biden it looks like this. Every single one of the categories increased when Biden took office. During President Trump’s first term the total of all categories was 27,425. During Biden’s term the total of all categories was 72,066. That’s a 162.76% total increase during the disastrous four years of Biden. These are only the convictions. There are no statistics on illegal aliens who were never caught and/or charged with any of the above especially murders, aggravated assault, or rape. And remember, none of the above would have happened if the border had been closed and none of these criminal aliens had been allowed in the country.
You conveniently blurred the numbers and commentary in your letter to make it seem like illegal aliens were part of the “economic contribution and entrepreneurship.” Illegal aliens cannot own businesses in this country, and they can’t vote. Although not for lack of trying by Democrats. They should not be part of any of the numbers you quoted. No one is debating the contributions of legal immigrants.
Finally, to all those who continue to condone, justify, aid and abet, or otherwise defend illegal aliens in this country, you have the blood of not only those five innocent women mentioned in Mr. Tilly’s letter but every single American who has been murdered or otherwise killed by an illegal alien on your hands.
