The Dilemma of 4-Day School Week

Monday I opened up the parents’ survey about the new four-day-school-week being considered by La Grange Independent School District.

Dam it, I was stumped by the first question.

It asked, “Are you interested in a four-day school week?”

No? Yes?

Thank goodness there was another choice.

I clicked “Maybe.’ And as I type this I’m still a ‘maybe.’

There’s a lot of merits to a four-day school week and a lot of concerns. I couldn’t even decide which way to write this column.

So I wrote one of each.

Below are the reasons that are at the top of my mind as I think about what is a very serious, very important issue.

Instead of making half our readers mad with my opinions, I’ll shoot for making them all mad.
