    Community Group Gathers in Muldoon

The East Parker Road community met up at the Muldoon Mercantile Store on Friday evening for a wonderful time of eating some great appetizers, collecting some toys and coats for the Deputy Santa program and just taking time to connect. I was very fortunate to have been invited to come and participate.

There were about two dozen East Parker Rd. residents who came out to support the toy drive and just to take time to connect with each other. They are a strong community group who try to gather regularly and keep up with each other. This was no exception as they all caught up with one another and double checked with each other on things that were happening in their area of Muldoon.

The toy and coat collection was a total success with the group collecting a car load of items. Jennifer and Clay Rightmer had hosted this gathering and were charged with the delivery of all the toys and coats that were collected. They delivered the toys up to the Sheriff’s Office along with wishes to bring a little extra joy to needy children in our own area.

Christmas in Muldoon

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 11 to come out to Muldoon and join in some old fashion fun from 4-6 p.m. Come wander around downtown Muldoon and find some of the Christmas spirit with the Muldoon Museum open with some baked goods and other items available for purchase and a chance to look at the items on exhibit in the museum. Mrs. Claus will be there to greet visitors too.

The Muldoon store building will be open with antiques and other items for sale. There also will be Christmas music on the front porch along with some karaoke.

The Muldoon Mercantile, the old stone store, will be decorated for the season and ready for visitors. It will also be offering refreshments and lots of chances to visit. There also will be a fire truck on display in the parking lot.

Down at the Muldoon Community Center by the park will be open and have tables set up for pick up games of dominos. Santa will be there from 4-5 p.m. only and will be happy to greet any little ones who might want to bend his ear and let him know what they might like for Christmas. Outdoor singing will be starting at around 5:30 p.m. with a tree lighting at dark.

At 6:30 p.m. the fire department will hold their annual Christmas dinner across the tracks and everyone is invited. The department will furnish barbeque meats from Zimmerhaunzel’s and ask guests to bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Karen Jacobs is trying to get a “Make a Gingerbread House” class going if anyone is interested. It would be from 2-4 p.m. and would cost $30. Please contact Karen by text at (281) 682-5625 or email at karenjacobs2018@outlook.com to let her know you would be interested and to reserve a place.

Through out the event there will be places to donate canned goods, toys and coats for those who in the area that are in need at this holiday season. So plan on coming to check out the fun and maybe contribute to someone else’s Christmas, too.
