Church and Pride

To the editor:

Through a recent church letter, I have learned that plans have been in the making for awhile now, and proceedings have started, if not already implemented, to restructure some of the oldest, most established religions/churches as diverse, equitable and inclusive, (DEI.) Plans are to allow homosexual marriages, officiated by their clergy, and to also now accept these beliefs into their religions. The clergy themselves may even be LGBQTIA+. In other words, making homosexuality compatible with Christian teachings.

Recently the UMC General Conference (Methodist) concluded in Charlotte, N.C. and with the backing of the ELCA (Lutheran), has decided to ratify the plan for worldwide restructure in the UMC, and to basically align with DEI as I understand it. In Texas, the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod has requested support and to show up, and march in the next gay pride parade in Houston this June 29. I would wager my last dollar that Martin Luther, would “not” have been behind this blasphemy.

I was instructed as a young child to believe the words of the Bible. And now, the Bible, which has been taught to billions of believers through the years, as the “word of God,” is going to have its words denied to support and give into a small percentage of people who want to change Christian values and religions. Our country has respected the rights of people to do what they will in their private lives, even openly. I do not think the majority should now have to change everything else in our lives because of it.

This is simply wrong, and it will certainly change things in more ways than one.

Countless Christians will not support the very churches who choose to go this route of DEI, when previously, these very churches taught them to live by the words in the Bible.

It is bittersweet to say that I also have learned that some of these churches and religions are branching off into two different congregations and people may choose which they want to belong to, one to accept the changes, one to not.

GOD is certainly being pushed aside, more and more. I recently saw a very popular movie on CMT, which generally is fairly conservative in the movies they show. The actor said the word GOD at the end of the movie, and to my surprise, that word only was bleeped out. I played it back three times to be sure.

When will people start standing up? When will people have had enough? When will GOD have had enough?
