Cartels and Hamas

To the editor:

Recently, I watched a rally in Washington, D.C. called “Lost Voices Fentanyl.” The more I heard, the more I became concerned for the future of our country. Story after story highlighted not just how vulnerable our Southern border is, but how uncaring our national leaders are about the truths these families face every day.

Parents and spouses who were asked to testify before Congress almost unanimously stated how dismissively they were treated as they told their stories. Some had brought official documents from their home counties outlining just how pervasive and invasive the cartels have become over the past few decades. These people were ridiculed as alarmists by members of both parties. Listening to these testimonies sickened me.

And as I listened, I began to see a very alarming parallel currently playing out between Israel and Hamas. Israel is now fighting a stateless army that hid inside Palestine as the rest of the world ignored them for decades, or saw them as insignificant dissidents. Meanwhile, they quietly amassed untold numbers of members, infiltrated the Palestinian government, built a seemingly bottomless war chest and dug untold numbers of “defense” tunnels under Gaza City and across both borders.

What is the difference between Hamas and the cartels that both the United States and Mexico are facing today? Not much. The cartels have not-soquietly infiltrated and corrupted the Mexican government from top to bottom while secretly building an army, tunnels and a war chest that has yet to be calculated. Sound familiar? The only difference between what’s going on between Hamas and the cartels is that one is (supposedly) fighting an ideological war while the other is building a stateless empire built on greed, violence, power and control.

So are we to be the next Israel as our elected leaders continue to ignore the seriousness of the current situation? In this election cycle We the People have some very important decisions to make. Are we going to continue sending ineffective, easily led sheep to Congress, or are we going to seek out and vote for strong lions who are truly servantleaders and believe that their duty is to the people they represent?

And finally, are we going to continue following the current leadership and mindlessly accept their recommendations concerning the legislative issues that will also be on November’s ballot? There is actually only one way to answer the questions I have posed. That is to ignore all the hype coming from both parties and go to the source documents themselves. Read them carefully and make your decisions based on your gut feelings after you’ve done your own research.

There is a Facebook page that can help you find and figure out all of this. It’s called “My Faith Votes,” and whether you are Christian or not, it offers suggestions for reconciling your personal beliefs with your decisions. Most important of all, is to vote your personal convictions this election cycle. It’s the best way to preserve our Republic.
